Kent Representative Football
KENT FA IS REPRESENTED BY UNDER-16, UNDER-18 AND WOMEN'S TEAMS
Representative Football is an integral part of Kent FA's remit, and it is an honour to be selected for the county side. Kent FA offers opportunities for players to represent their county and compete against other counties and professional clubs.
Kent FA has enjoyed numerous successes at regional and national levels throughout history.
Representative football is a great chance to showcase your talent, with Football League scouts regularly attending our matches. Recent player success stories include Sam McCallum, who played for Norwich City in the Sky Bet Championship last season; Gerald Sithole, who was recently signed with Gillingham and is contracted to Bolton Wanderers; his younger brother Ronald, who was also recently with Gillingham for the previous season; Hamid Ishola, who had been signed with Peterborough United; and Ross Johnstone, who was selected to represent the England Schools FA.
Under 16s
The U16s have won the South East Counties Championship four times in the last ten years. They have also won the competition six times since it began in 1972. Our most recent success was in Season 2019/20, which saw our U16s finish as Group Winners, but the Covid-19 pandemic denied them the opportunity to play the final.
The U16 Boys Competition did not run for the 2023/24 season, but the Counties continue to discuss resuming this competition for season 2024/25.
Under 18s
The U18s have won the same competition five times in the last eleven years and are the second most successful county in this competition, having won it 11 times since its inception in 1952. The U18s also play in the FA County Youth Cup, which they last won in 2010 against Sheffield & Hallamshire FA at Priestfield, home of Gillingham Football Club. Season 2021/22 saw our U18s top their group and retain the Tony Elsey U18 Cup.
The U18 Boys Competition did not run for the 2023/24 season, but the Counties continue to discuss resuming this competition for season 2024/25.
Women
The Women compete in the Southern Counties Championship, which they joined in 2012 and have won the competition twice. Before the competition's demise, they also became the last East Anglian Counties league winners in 2017. Most recently, they won the Southern Counties Championship in 2017/18, winning all four matches in their League to secure the trophy. The Women's team made a welcome return in season 2023/24 as they competed for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.
For the 2024/25 season, the women's team will compete in the Southern Counties Competition against Middlesex FA, Essex FA, Jersey FA, and the Army FA.
