County Cup Final Celebration Evening - Honouring Match Official Appointments
The Kent County Cup Final Celebration Evening was held at the Village Hotel Maidstone last night (Thursday, 6 March 2025).
It spotlighted the invaluable contributions of match officials throughout the season, who have been either nominated through their leagues and/or recognised by Kent FA.
The event recognised the appointment of 100 dedicated referees, assistant referees, and fourth officials who will oversee the 25 County Cup Finals, ensuring fair play and professionalism across all levels of the game. Held in an atmosphere of appreciation and camaraderie, the evening brought together officials, Kent FA staff, and distinguished guests, to celebrate the achievements of those who play a crucial role in the game.
Each official received recognition for their commitment, with special acknowledgements also for Isaac Searle and Harry Wager, who were recently promoted to the National List.
The celebration served as both a reward and motivation for match officials, highlighting pathways for development and encouraging the next generation of referees to take up the whistle. As the evening concluded, the message was clear—without the dedication of match officials, the game simply wouldn't be the same.
Referee Development Lead Nick Dunn highlighted this momentous occasion for the selected five percent.
"It was a fantastic opportunity to welcome those match officials to this season's County Cup Final Appointment Evening, an event we have held now for a number of seasons and one that allows us to recognise and reward," he said.
"Being selected for one of these prestigious fixtures recognises their ability and professionalism and is a testament to their dedication, hard work, and progression along the officiating pathway in support of the grassroots game here in Kent. The appointment serves as tremendous recognition of their willingness to learn and improve and their commitment.
"Officiating a County Cup Final is a proud moment in any match official's journey, as much as it is the case for the clubs, teams, and players. We hope the ball runs kindly for them all."
