There has been lots to celebrate at Aylesford Football Club in recent years, with the men’s team winning a league and cup double last season, the installation of a 3G pitch and the growth of the club’s women’s and disability sections.

James Fuller, Aylesford FC Chairman, sat down with Kent Football Show Kweku Afari to discuss the club’s recent progression and hopes for the future in episode five of Kent FA’s online television show.

The club has recently transitioned from two to three-star FA accreditation, with the changes implemented including putting full pathways in place for the girls’ and mixed sections to progress through to the senior teams and adding a disability section.

On the Kent Football Show, James describes what this means to the club: “It’s really important for us as a club and for our members.

“A lot of hard work has gone into gaining the three-star accreditation, from the secretary right through to the team officials.

“This gives us the security and a platform so that everyone knows Aylesford is a fun and enjoyable place to play football.”

Supporting the local community is important to the club and James describes how providing free football training opportunities in schools and collecting food donations at games have helped to strengthen ties in the area.

The installation of a 3G pitch has brought huge benefits to the club, both as a facility for the teams to use and a resource to hire out to others, and James would now love to see a new clubhouse built beside it.

“The 3G has given us a home and something that we own and something we’re super proud of,” he said.

“In the next three to five years we’ll look to get a new clubhouse down by the 3G, which will support that facility, because we’re a little bit disjointed from where we are now in the clubhouse down to the 3G.”
